This verse introduces us to two important principles that characterized the Church in Her beginnings. It is not a question of wanting to be nostalgic by wanting to return to the first Church, because it is not possible and it would be false ... The book of Acts does not present us with a model to follow but tells us the story of the first years of the Church. These biblical principles are fundamental because they are applicable in all contexts and all times, always producing a positive result, namely the growth and multiplication of the Church. And that's what God wants you to experience multiplication, so let's look at those two principles ...
First of all it says that all those who believed were together… This is the question of unity, further in Acts 4:32 it says that they were “one heart and one soul” . To begin with it is well mentioned “all those who believed”, which means more than 3000 people according to what precedes in this chapter. Unity did not apply to certain people based on their affinity or language, but all, without any exceptions. This unity is based on their faith, believing that Jesus is their Lord and Savior, believing that they are all part of one body, therefore Christ is the head (cf. Ephesians 1: 22-23). For our differences to make a difference we need to recognize that we are each other's body of Christ.
Living in unity is a choice, that of wanting to be together, to function in unity with other disciples of Christ. By knowing how to recognize diversity, because unity is not uniformity, on the contrary ... To decide to be together is to choose to collaborate in unity with others to accomplish His work and that His kingdom come . It is interesting to note that if the individual is precious in the sight of God, the Bible emphasizes the dimension of people and nations… As for example, make disciples of all nations (cf. Matthew 28:19 ). Or to come under His yoke and take His burden, Jesus does not say “take”, but “take” (cf. Matthew 11:29), which is a community dimension…
It is fundamental for our differences to make the difference to choose to live and walk in unity. Which leads us to the second principle, namely to have everything in common. The rest of the text, like that of Acts 4: 32-33, clearly speaks of material goods. Nevertheless, I believe that the principle which is there is much more important than that… It is a question of knowing how to share who we are by renouncing our individualism, our pride, our projects, our interest, the judgment and the comparison… To have everything in common, it is choosing that the only Name that must be exalted is that of Jesus, that the glory be for Him and Him alone, that His Kingdom be the priority, that His love breaks judgment and that complementarity be the standard which replaces the comparison… What must you give up for this principle to be a reality?
Your life is important and necessary to make a difference and to write His Story… What would happen if instead of looking at what it can bring you you looked at what it will produce in the lives that are going to be changed… If you gave up doing things alone, but took someone to do together ... God will be at work and His power will be manifested, a large number of people will meet Jesus and be added to His Church (cf. Acts). 2:47).
It's up to you to play now to live these principles so that with the people around you your differences can make the difference.
God has blessed you richly so that you bless abundantly ...
