Last March when the covid crisis started, one of the first thoughts that came to me was: "like in Joseph's time, the world is going to be put into slavery." And this is what is happening, the world is caught in the bondage of fear… These words of the apostle Paul are important to us today… You are no longer a slave, it is a reality in Christ so don't let yourself be enslaved by anything! Slavery is the loss of freedom, it is acting under the constraint and domination of a master. This is exactly what fear does, it pushes people to act in certain ways, it comes to dominate lives preventing them from living freely. Becoming a slave to fear is a choice, that of letting what is outside of our lives, our circumstances, events dominate. In other words, it is letting reality take precedence over truth and there is in the current climate a clear action to keep the world in the grip of fear ... which is a great way to dominate and pushing people to do things they wouldn't normally agree to.
They are the fear of sickness, the fear of dying, the fear of missing, the fear of… If all of these things are real and can happen to us, there is no reason to fear… As a follower of Christ the fear has absolutely no place in our lives so how do we free ourselves from it? First by coming back to the reality of the cross, Jesus conquered death, disease, poverty and the curse in order to grant us life, healing, life in abundance, and blessing. So we have no reason to be afraid of these things… To submit to one of these fears is to reject what Christ did by putting our trust in us instead of putting them in Christ… If you art in Christ, you will not see death, for Christ gives you life! He is with you and His victory is your inheritance ...
It is directly linked to our identity, you are His son, His daughter… Which implies that you bear His Name, that you have His authority and that you are seated with Him in heavenly places (cf. Ephesians 2: 6). So why be afraid? The Almighty God, Creator of all things is with you, He will not necessarily remove you from the trials, on the other hand He assures you of His presence and His victory at the end ... As His child, He to you. love with a perfect and total love, nothing can separate you from His love (cf. Romans 8: 38-39). It is this love that fills our hearts and comes to reverse the fear that would like to interfere in our lives… So don't let anything prevent you from seeing and living His love.
You are His heir, which means that the fullness of the heavens is yours ... This is where you will spend eternity, it is also an important truth that allows you to overcome the slavery of fear ... Your life does not end in a few years, you will live for eternity ... By focusing only on earthly life you will quickly be blinded by fear, because your vision will remain basely on the things of this world instead to live in the perspective and measure of eternity ... Continue to live with your feet on the ground, yet keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and your heart in eternal life ...
To be free from the bondage of fear does not depend on you and your efforts, it is thanks to God, it is by and in His grace. He has already accomplished everything through His death and resurrection… The only thing we can do is surrender ourselves into the hands of God, while cultivating our relationship of love and intimacy with Him… His presence comforts us, His Spirit leads us and inspires us, His life fills us beyond all measure… To be a slave to fear is to cultivate this fear in our thoughts, our reasonings and our emotions… When you cultivate your intimacy with God not only you are free, but also you allow your faith to grow ...
God has freed you from fear so that you can bring this Good News around you ... Become a disciple of Christ and allow your world to enter His freedom and come out of the bondage of fear ...
God has blessed you richly so that you bless abundantly ...
